I could easily have taken Lagos from Tinubu, says Atiku

Atiku

The former Vice President and a Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, says he regrets not winning Lagos State for the party when he was in office in 2003.

He said he could easily have won the state over from the governor at the time, Bola Tinubu, but chose not to, because of their long-standing political relationship.

He, therefore, appealed to Lagosians to give him another opportunity to win the state back to the party.

He made the appeal on Monday when he visited the state and held a meeting with members of the party while seeking support for his 2019 presidential bid.

He said, “My brothers and sisters, I want you to forgive me for leaving Lagos out of that arrangement.

“If I have another opportunity again, Lagos will go together with other states back to the PDP”.

“Bola Tinubu and I came a long way from the SDP, PDM and all of that; and I felt I should leave Lagos for him. I could easily have taken over Lagos along with the rest. Today, we have lost the South-West again,” he lamented.

Furthermore, Atiku blamed the economic and security challenges of the country on the ruling party and wondered why the APC is gaining grounds in the southwest.

He, therefore, asked to be given another opportunity to correct the mistakes he made by ensuring that the party takes back the state.
