Sparta Rotterdam and Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has said he is concerned that his new club, Watford are fighting to stay up in the English Premier League (EPL).
The Nigerian shot-stopper made this known while discussing the woes of his two teams during an interview with Rijnmond recently.
Okoye signed for The Hornets in November 2021, from Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam on a five-and-a-half-year deal joining fellow compatriots like William Troost-Ekong and Emmanuel Dennis at the London club.
He was however loaned back to the Dutch outfit to spend the rest of the campaign even though his Watford contract commenced in January 2022.

Watford sit in the 19th position in the Premier League table and are two points below Everton, who occupy the 17th position having played two more games than the Toffees.
Likewise, Henk Fraser’s men are also involved in the relegation dogfight in the Dutch league, sitting 17th on the 18-team table, and a cut adrift from safety by a significant four points.
Despite changing managers three times this season, The Hornets face the potential of playing in the Championship next season, meaning Maduka Okoye could find himself plying his trade in the lower tier of the English league.
The 22-year-old has revealed that though he is concerned about the delegation battle faced by his parent club, there is little he can do about it.
He also said he is currently focused on saving Sparta Rotterdam from being relegated from the Dutch Eredivisie division.
He said, “It is concerning for me that Watford is also facing relegation, but I can only help Sparta now.
“I will do everything I can to keep Sparta in the Eredivisie. I can’t help Watford now.”
Okoye, despite participating in the African Cup of Nations in January, has made 19 league appearances for the Dutch side, conceding 29 goals and keeping 3 clean sheets.
