Following his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nuhu Ribadu, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said he didn’t join the PDP to get an automatic to contest the forthcoming governorship election.
Ribadu, who contested the presidential election on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for Governor of Adamawa State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Monday, August 18.
While saying he is prepared to face an open and transparent primary, Ribadu, on whose behalf the forms were reportedly picked by Hamidu Mahmud, associates of his at the PDP national headquarters, Abuja, said he is ready to slug the primaries out with all those interested in flying the party’s flag.
TheNiche learnt that the head of a pressure group, Concerned Youth for Good Governance in Adamawa state, in astute support of Ribadu’s candidature, Isa Toungo, said the former EFCC boss was given a membership card with registration number 1933795. Ribadu officially became a member of the PDP in the Bako ward of Yola South Local Government on Saturday.
To this end, Ribadu is ready to go head-to-head with the likes of Buba Marwa, Ahmed Gulak and others known to have declared for the office in election which Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed the for October 11.
