The Nigerian Twitter Community dug out a photo of Dino Melaye and a man reportedly in the middle of an International Police (INTERPOL) investigation for internet fraud, Hushpuppi.
The photos started trending on Twitter shortly after the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja affirmed that Smart Adeyemi was the winner of the Kogi West senatorial election.
Senator Dino Melaye had challenged the election of Senator Smart Adeyemi as the senator representing Kogi-West Senatorial District, alleging that it was fraught with malpractices.
The tribunal, in its judgement, threw out the suit for lacking in merit.
Not long after the ruling was delivered, a photo of Hushpuppi and Dino Melaye surfaced on Twitter.
The photo first appeared on the internet in October 2019 when Dino visited Dubai.
A website, nigerianbulletin.com had also posted the photo on October 1, 2019 with the short story: “You already know Hushpuppi is the Baale of Dubai. Melaye at the moment is in Dubai and well… they met.”
Another photo of Hushpuppi and Atiku was also shared on Twitter. But no match of that photograph could be seen on the internet when TheNiche carried out a Google reverse image search on the said image.
The photograph of Hushpuppi and Atiku may well be a fake.
