Newcastle United boss, Eddie Howe, has said he believes Anthony Gordon’s controversial winner against Arsenal in Saturday’s Premier League tie was a good goal.
The Magpies inflicted first league defeat on North London side, Arsenal after beating them 1-0 at home in a league fixture played at St James’ Park.
Prior to giving the goal, VAR officials took more than four minutes to arrive at the decision, running checks on three possible offences.
Those included if Newcastle winger Gordon was offside, if the ball had gone out of play during the build-up to Gordon’s goal and if Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes was fouled by Joelinton.

However, the decision of the centre referee to award Newcastle the goal left Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta angry, labelling it a disgrace and embarrassment.
Speaking on the controversial goal, Howe told Sky Sports after the game that he felt the goal was a good one, even though he wasn’t privileged to see it on the screen.
He said: “We are in the dark, we are stood by the side of the pitch seeing VAR on the screen but with no pictures.
“I have not seen anything other than what I saw at the time. It looked a good goal to me.”
