Damilola Meshioye has told a Lagos Court how her father, Abidemi Meshioye, defiled and got her pregnant at Ikorodu, Lagos in 2013 while she was 17 years.
Damilola stated this at the High Court of Lagos State in the Ikeja Judicial Division (sexual offences and domestic violence court) before Justice S. O Nwaka that her father had concurrently disturbed her at night all through 2013 that made her to run out of the house at mid night to her uncle Anikpole Ahmed, for safety.
She narrated: “It all happened in 2013 while I was staying with my parents at Ikorodu.
My mum sells food while my dad works in the airport. They usually quarrel at home which I was not comfortable with. We are eight in number. I am the first child of my parents and the only girl.
My dad always disturb me at night. When I could not bear it, I had to run to my uncle’s house that night. I told him everything and the following morning, we went to scan at Focus laboratory Ikorodu where I was confirmed pregnant. My brother took me to welfare office where we later went to the police to report the case.
“The police asked me of my parents’ phone number and I gave them. They called them and they all wrote their statements at Ikorodu police station.”
The case was adjourned to June 28 because the official title of the police officer who certified the document was not stated in the document. Section 104 subsection 1 of the 2007 evidence act requires every public document to state the names and official title of certifying officer.
