Inspector of Police, FESTAC Division, Amisat Hakim, has given an investigative report on the ongoing trial of Solomon Dero for raping a young girl, Chukwuani Ukamaka.
At the Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court of the Ikeja Judicial Division, the witness, an inspector of police at FESTAC town, told the judge, Justice S.O Nwaka, that on April 12, 2013, one Mrs Chioma Okwulor, a guardian to Chukwuani Ukamaka of flat 1, plot 1, Carnal View Estate, FESTAC, came to the station and reported that she went out in the morning and returned back home around 11am. That when she opened her flat door, she saw her daughter Chukwuani Ukamaka crying.
She said that when she asked her what happened, Ukamaka told her that their Estate gateman, Solomon, came to their house and asked her for food. When she told him that her mother was not at home, she said Solomon entered their flat and requested for sex but she refused and he pushed her and had access to her by covering her mouth.
The policewoman said that when Uzomaka’s mother entered the house, Solomon ran into one of their rooms to hide. “The mother walked into the door in their house and called her husband on phone and her husband called the Estate Chairman and the Estate Chairman called the police,” the witness said.
The case was adjourned to June 8, 2018 for further hearing.
