Enyimba’s mission to have a big comeback in their quarterfinals duel with Egypt’s Pyramids ended in futility. Enyimba merely averted a probable home defeat as they rallied to a 1-1 draw against the visiting Egyptian side.
In the end, Enyimba crashed out 5-2 on aggregate and thus, Pyramids continue their dominance of Nigerian clubs as thy have two years ago beaten Enugu Rangers home and away in the group stage of the Confederation Cup.
The visitors drew the first blood when Ibrahim Adel shot them ahead in the 32nd minute to complicate the woes of Enyimba.
The home boys drew level, 1-1 in the 42nd minute through Iwuala Anayo. With the result, no Nigerian club has advanced to the final stages of the two continental clubs competitions.
