England finally made it to the final of a major competition for the first time since 1966 when they won the World Cup after defeating Denmark in extra time .
The Danish team drew the first blood when they took the lead trough Mikkel Damsgaard 30 mins into the encounter.
England dominated for the most part of the game and were duly rewarded for their endeavour when they equalized through an own goal from Simon Kjear on 39th min.
England continued to dominate the encounter through the second half but were unable to score the decisive goal as the rear guard of Denmark marshalled by Jannik Vestergaard stood firm.
The game dragged into extra time with England still in charge but Denmark remained resolute and defended d few attacks the English opposition was able to muster.
The break through finally came in the 104 minute , when Raheem Sterling was brought down inside the box and the resultant penalty kick was scored by Harry Kane on d second attempt to score his 4th goal of the tournament.
The Three Lions of England now have a date with the Azzurri of Italy in the Wembley stadium on July 11, 2021, when the final of the competition will be played
