The Lagos State government has pardoned a former gubernatorial candidate, Babatunde Gbadamosi, his wife and Azeez Fashola, a.k.a Naira Marley for contravening the lockdown order imposed on the state to curb Covid-19 pandemic.

Naira Marley, Gbadadmosi and his wife were part of those that attended a birthday party organised by a popular actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, for her husband, Abdul Rasheed Bello, at their home at Amen Estate in the Ibeju-Lekki area of the state.

The trio had on Monday reported at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, and were detained after the police asked them and others, who attended to report at the SCIID.

The state Police Command had arraigned the trio before a Magistrates’ Court in Ogba.

Speaking to journalists after the hearing, one of the defence counsel, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), said the government withdrew the charges on the condition that the defendants would tender an apology to President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

It was gathered that the government agreed to withdraw the charge against the defendants based on the remorse they showed. It is however still subsequent upon their fulfilling three conditions.

They have to write a formal apology to the Government of Lagos State which will solidify their remorsefulness.

Gbadamosi had apologized for attending the house party, hours after the actress was arrested by the police for defying the lockdown order of the government.
