For advocating the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari, the House of Representatives has said that it would sanction Kingsley Chinda, the lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor federal constituency of Rivers State.

Chinda made the call for Buhari’s impeachment twice in two weeks. The first was after the massacre of at least 43  farmers in Zabarmari, a community in Jere local government area of Borno State. He called on Nigerians irrespective of political parties, tribe, or religion to compel their representatives to commence the impeachment process against the President.

The second followed the abduction of more than 400 students of the Government Science Secondary School (GSSS) in Kankara, Katsina state. He was flanked by other PDP lawmakers when he made the call during a press conference.

But the House of Representatives has said it will take disciplinary measures against Kingsley Chinda, for making the impeachment press conference against  President Muhammadu Buhari.

The House Majority Leader, Ado Doguwa, said it was Chinda’s impeachment call that discouraged the president from honouring the summon on him to appear before the lawmakers to explain what he was doing to address Nigeria’s security challenges.

Doguwa said the impeachment call spooked the president who feared that he would be embarrassed if he honours the House of Representatives summon.

Besides, Doguwa said Chinda was not representing the position of the PDP caucus of the House of Representatives when he made the call for the president’s impeachment.
