A House of Rep member, Sani Dan-Galadima, risks prison for failing to bring Faisal, the son of Abdulrasheed Maina to court to face his trial.

Faisal, like his father, Maina, has also jumped bail after a Federal High Court granted him bail.

Dan-Galadima is the man that stood surety for Faisal, and like Ali Ndume who stood surety for Maina and got his fingers burnt, Dan-Galadima is also likely to suffer the same fate.

On December 21, the Federal High Court, Abuja, fixed January 25 for ruling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s request to send Galadima to prison for his inability to bring Faisal to court for his trial.

Faisal, like his father Maina, is being prosecuted in on a three-count money laundering case before Justice Okon Abang who is also the same judge trying Maina.

Like what happened to Maina, Justice Abang revoked the bail granted to Faisal and directed that his surety should appear in court to show cause why he should not be made to forfeit his N60m bail bond.

The Punch reported that Faisal’s lawyer, M.E Sheriff, told the court on December 10, that the fleeing Faisal had been arrested by security agencies, urging the court to suspend the committal to prison hearing of the surety.

The EFCC’s lawyer, Mohammed Abubakar, according to the report, said he was not aware of the said arrest, urging the court to make the forfeiture order of the bail bond and direct the surety to be imprisoned until he could produce the defendant or the conclusion of the forfeiture process.
