Brace for a new normal of prolonged fasting and extensive trekking, Nollywood actress Hilda Dokubo has told Nigerians, because “we have gone back to the 18th century” – recreated by former President Muhammadu Buhari and being nurtured by his successor Bola Tinubu.

“Let us prepare for a new lifestyle of long fasting, long trekking, and long-suffering. Their mandate is mandating,’” Dokubo said in a video shared on Instagram at the weekend.

“Just so you know, fuel is N1,250 which means, on your mandate you have to stand, on your leg you have to walk. Get ready. All of you who do not like walking, go and get trainers so that you can waka.

“We have gone back to the 18th  century, electricity, twice they have increased it [the price] this year, February never even reach half, fuel N1,250, diesel N1,700, bread is almost N3,000, as for Garri, let’s not go there.”

Dokubo posted the video as Tinubu apologists now double down insisting he has clean hands in the countrywide hardship which has triggered hunger protests from at least four states – Niger, Kano, Osu, and twice in Lagos since December 2023.

Tinubu apologists double down backing him with lies and half truths

Tinubu loyalists are peddling lies and half truths to absolve him of responsibility for the quagmire of hunger in which Nigerians have found themselves under his watch.

Lamido Sanusi (former CBN Governor)

Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Lamido Sanusi said on Sunday it is an injustice to blame the Tinubu administration for these economic woes because he is tackling a failed economy mismanaged in the Buhari years.

Sanusi knows that both Buhari and Tinubu belong to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and that Tinubu gave full-throated support to Buhari when he was President, even when Tinubu knew his predecessor was running down the economy.

Tinubu kept quiet when Buhari was decimating all governance structures because he was angling for Buhari to back his presidential bid.

Yet, Sanusi is saying Tinubu should not be blamed even for the fact he knowingly supported Buhari to destroy the economy he handed over to him?

Enoch Adeboye (RCCG General Overseer)

Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), stressed when he visited Kano Governor Uba Sani at the weekend that solving Nigeria’s problems is beyond those in authority.

“It has become clearer to us that the problems our nation is facing is more than political. Our problems will require quite a bit of spiritual solution,” he said.

“We, as a country, are blessed. We are blessed with people with great intelligence. We are blessed with all manner of resources and yet we have so many problems.

“It is not as if people in authority are not trying their best. They are doing as much as humanly possible and then we found out that when you have problems that are beyond human ability to solve them, you call on the Almighty.

“The reason we call Him the Almighty is because He has the power to solve all problems.”

What both Sanusi and Adeboye glossed over is the fact Tinubu said he knew Nigeria’s problems, put himself forward to solve them, and went as far as committing electoral heist to snatch, grab, and run with the job of President.

Adeboye knows the truth of The Bible that God Himself does not come down from Heaven to solve problems on earth. God uses human beings who listen to Him and fear and obey Him to tackle human problems on earth.

God also sends people to alert leaders to problems and to proffer solutions.

Tinubu is fully aware of the challenges on the ground in Nigeria and has unfettered opportunity to tackle them head on.

But he has through corruption tied his own hands by “protecting the system” for him and his fellow racketeers to keep on exploiting and profiting from the travails of citizens.

Tinubu is intentionally not willing to use the power already in his hand to change things for the better.

Tinubu Gimmicks

Political opponents have advised Tinubu to reduce the cost of governance so there would be more funds to executive projects that would reduce the cost of living for the generality of Nigerians.

They have also told him to block the loopholes in the system that enable government officials loot the treasury.

Tinubu has refused to lift a finger in these directions, never mind his cosmetic grandstanding over EduGate which has turned out to be a tip of the iceberg.

Other critics have argued Tinubu inherited a thoroughly broken system and he has since run out of ideas and does no longer know what to do.
