Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci is at risk of losing her Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest cooking marathon to a Kenyan chef, Maliha Mohammed, who recently claimed she has surpassed the time she set.
Taking to her social media page to announce the feat on Tuesday, Maliha wrote, “@seagasltd Yes, we did it! I am now the new world record holder for the longest home kitchen cooking marathon in town. Thank you for the incredible support”.
In the now-viral Instagram post, the Kenyan said she began the cook-a-thon exercise on August 11, and that her aim was to surpass the 93 hours and 11 minutes set by Baci.
She went on to say she was able to beat the time achieved by the Nigerian, after accomplishing a time of 95 hours and 15 minutes.
However, despite her claims the British reference book is yet to confirm Maliha’s new cooking record.

Prior to this latest attempt, the Kenyan chef had attempted to break the GWR twice, in 2018 and 2019, but her efforts were not certified.
But in May, she declared her intention to try again and revealed that her application was approved by the GWR in 2022.
She said: “In 2019, I broke the GWR for cooking 75 hours, In 2018 I did the same by cooking 72 hours,” she wrote.
“I sent my application last year to GWR, it takes time for them to accept your application, but they did accept my application via email.
“I will not be breaking one record but two. The first record will be broken on August 11 and the second will be on September 11 of the longest cooking by an individual marathon and also home cooking marathon.
“I know the love, the support I had gotten in 2019 was immense, and now I need your support one more time.”
