Here are the best paying jobs, from business ideas, data analysis to digital marketing, et cetera

Unemployment rate in Nigeria has risen consistently for years and now stands at over 33 per cent. A job seeker has to be on the lookout for roles in high demand in order to have an edge in gaining employment.

Despite the high rate of unemployment, there are still graduate jobs that pay high salaries with very good career prospects.

They include the seven following roles:

1. Business developer and sales

Salary: between N150K and N250K per month. Besides benefits like commissions.

Every organisation needs this professional. The major deliverables are to develop and implement new strategies to upsurge return on investment (ROI), penetrate new markets, attract new clients, increase customers’ loyalty, and retain existing ones.

The person:

Someone very good at negotiation, persuasion, research, analysis, and possesses customer service skills.

Start by getting an internship role where you will be trained on the job. Or take free courses online. 

Udemy and Coursera offer great courses on this role. This will enable you upskill and be competent.

2. Digital marketing

Salary: N250K or more, depending on ability to make sales.

One of the fastest ways to secure a good-paying job in Nigeria is through digital marketing. There are numerous products to advertise and sell through social media via content creation. A lot of organisations are looking for people who fit this role. 

Digital marketing is one of the biggest sources of income for many as it requires little or no qualification to start. It is also fast and flexible.

The person:

To be proficient in this role, take some courses online or pay to attend physical classes.

3. Human resources

Salary: N300K. Depending on nature and place of work.

The person:

Responsible for recruiting, training, and managing employees.

Take a professional course like the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) to equip you and make you exceptional in the role, according to reporting by Nairametrics.

4. Chartered accountant

Salary: N150K or more. Depends on level of proficiency and the company/firm that employs you.

Chartered accountants provide financial expertise for the management of business entities and organisations. There is high demand for this role and getting a job is relatively easy.

The person:

You will manage financial systems and budgets, audit accounts, analyse risks, and detect financial fraud as well as provide reliable financial information.

To become a chartered accountant in Nigeria, you must spend at least three years getting a professional qualification from ICAN or ACCA or other bodies.

5. Project management

Salary: between N139K and N457K

The person:

You have overall responsibility for the successful planning, designing, execution, monitoring, and controlling of a project. 

You need certification from the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and the Project Management Institute (PMI).

6. Data analysis

Salary: between N250K and N400K

The person:

An expert trained to use knowledge of data to examine and change data models to extract  information that helps in decision-making.

You need to learn data science basics, get data science certifications, and learn from other experts in the field.

7. Corporate communication

Salary: N500K or more.

The person:

You are responsible for making communication plans, coordinating events, and creating materials in an organiation with communication activities.
