Haaland farts to gain advantage, Goretzka alleges

Haaland appears to be not only a goal poacher but also a budding master of the dark arts used in distracting opposing defenders

Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland has been accused of giving defenders the bum’s rush – by farting to distract them and gain undue advantage over them.

The Norway international has already found the net a total of 50 times this season – but players and supporters of opposing clubs reckoned he has been playing a trump card.

A recent viral footage on social media revealed the moment Haaland appeared to have farted while Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka was marking him during the UEFA  Champions League (UCL) quarter-final.

The German midfielder could be seen in the video puffing out his cheeks and holding his nose as he waited for a corner to be swung in, while Haaland was seen rubbing his stomach.

According to Daily Star, some sports news outlets quoted Goretzka after the encounter to have said: “He (Haaland) has no respect for the opponent or football. He farted every time we approached him.”

The video also had fans who took to the comment section in stitches as one wrote: “This explains the goals.” Another added: “Extra propulsion for additional speed,”

A third, however, joked saying: “Still has a lot to grow to get on Gary Lineker’s level.”, while a few other fans on social media labelled the Norwegian “Erling Fartland”

Prior to this, Brentford defender, Ben Mee, had during a recent appearance on Monday Night Football, claimed Haaland pinched him when they clashed earlier this season.

“He is a powerful lad and we have had a little bit of a jostle,” said Mee

He added: “Obviously we are trying to be physical with him and use our body in and around the box to stop him from getting into any positions he wants to.”
