Gunmen on Thursday killed five policemen in Anambra State.
This is coming 24 hours after the killing of Dr. Chike Akunyili, widower of the late former Minister of Information, Prof Dora Akunyili, at Nkpor in Idemili North local government area.
The police station at Ajali, Orumba North local government area was also burnt by the hoodlums.
The station was razed by hoodlums some years ago during an attack in the area
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tony Olofu, confirmed the attack.
It was gathered that five policemen were killed in the attack though the CP did not confirm the number
Olofu said the station was razed and the police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu would give the details later.
He said, “Wait for a detailed statement from the PPRO. As of now I can confirm to you that two policemen were killed in the incident.
It was gathered that security reports had stopped governorship candidates in Anambra State to shun public appearances.
All politicians and their supporters had jettisoned using branded vehicles in Anambra State ahead of the November 6 election.
