At least five persons were on Wednesday night ambushed and killed by unknown gunmen in Rawuru village of Fan District of Barkin Ladi Local Government of Plateau State who opened fire at the five youth’s while returning home from a festive celebration.
While confirming the killing in Jos on Thursday, Plateau State Police Command Public Relations officer, DSP Terna Tyopev, disclosed that the unknown gunmen attacked the youths when they were returning from a birthday party from Pugu Village.
According to him, five youths were killed and two injured.
“On the 27/12/2018 at about 0800hrs the Plateau State Police Command received information from Kim Timothy, the Youth Leader of Rawuru Village, Fan District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State that on the 26/12/2018 at about 2115hrs some unknown gunmen attacked some people when they were returning from a birthday party from Pugu Village.
“As a result of the attack, five people were killed and two were injured. The five persons who lost their lives had since been buried while the two injured are currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital Barkin Ladi.
“The Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, Jos, CP Austin I. Agbonlahor, has asked the immediate commencement of investigation in the case to identify and arrest the perpetrators to face the full wrath of the law.
It was gathered that the attacks took place in Rawuru village where the House Of Representatives Member Representing Riyom/Barkin Ladi Fed. Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Istifanus Gyang, comes from.
Gyang who is the PDP Senatorial candidate of the Plateau North Senatorial District also confirmed the attacks and described it as unfortunate.
“It’s quite unfortunate, but it only means we need to do more to rid the land of the embers of hatred and disunity”.
He vowed never to seize trying to restore peace and unity in the state.
The killing is coming barely after days when one person was killed by unknown gunmen in Gako Rim Ward of Riyom LGA on December 23, 2018; three persons killed in Mafeng Motel Ropp Ward B/Ladi LGA on December 25, 2018 and one person was also killed in Nding Fan of B/Ladi LGA on Christmas Day.
