Gunmen kidnapped Kwara businessman on his farm

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani marauders have reportedly kidnapped a businessman in Oke-Onigbin in Isin local government area of Kwara state.

The businessman, Alaga Olayemi, who doubles as a farmer was said to be returning home from his maize farm when he was kidnapped at around 7pm on Thursday.

The gunmen who were said to be seven in number reportedly ambushed the man and his two aides who had accompanied him to the farms and were returning home with him.

The two aides were said to have managed to escaped being kinapped after  they had been attacked with matchets on their heads by the kidnappers. 

The businessman could not however escaped as did his aides as he was whisked away by their assailants to an unknown destination.

Spokesman of the state police command, Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed that the man was kidnapped in his farm by “seven unknown gunmen.”

He said that the commissioner of police, Mohammed Lawal Bagega, had activated an intensive effort to rescue the victim.

It was gathered that local hunters in the area have also embarked on the combing of the bush in search of the abducted businessman.
