Gunmen abduct Taraba monarch’s two wives, six children

Gunmen have kidnapped two wives and six children of Sani Suleiman Duna, the Chief of Mutum Biyu, a community in the Jalingo area of Taraba State.

According to the Nation quoting the Taraba police spokesman, Abdullahi Usman, the abduction of the royal family members occurred in the early hours of Thursday.

He said: “They came around 12 am on Thursday and then scaled over the fence and started breaking the doors. Then they were able to kidnap the wives and six children.”

The police spokesman added that the Police were “doing everything possible to ensure that they rescue the victims unhurt.”

The newspaper also quoted a former acting Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Alhassan Hamman Adama, a son of Mutum Biyu, who also confirmed the incident.

Similarly, gunmen riding on motorcycles abducted six pupils at the Local Government Education Authority Primary School, Alwaza, in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The heavily armed gunmen stormed the Alwaza primary school premises on Friday morning.

Punch Newspaper quoted a source in the community who said that the incident occurred at 7 am in the morning when other pupils of the school were still arriving for the day’s activities.

He said: “The entire incident is very confusing. We never expected that such a thing could happen in our community.

“The school children, about six of them were kidnapped by the heavily armed men and they took them to an unknown destination.”
