Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has provided an update on the supposed move for Nigerian-born Swiss defender, Manuel Obafemi Akanji.
Akanji who currently plays for Borussia Dortmund is expected to join his former teammate, Erling Haaland and Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips, who made a switch to City this summer.
Guardiola speaking after Manchester City’s Premier League 6-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night said the deal for the Swiss defender is close but not done.

He also said he is not expecting more arrivals at the Etihad Stadium before the summer transfer window closes by Midnight.
The Spaniard said at his post-match press conference: “The club tells me that the deal is still not done.
“I don’t think [there will be any more arrivals]. But nobody knows.”
So far Guardiola and City have signed new players and allowed a couple of others to leave the club.
They signed Stefan Ortega and Erling Haaland on July 1, after which they bought Kalvin Phillips from Leeds and Sergio Gómez from Andertlect on July 4 and August 16 respectively.
During that time, Gabriel Jesus and Alexander Zinchenko were sold to North London club, Arsenal, while Chelsea captured the signature of England international, Raheem Sterling.
