Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has revealed the two teams that will challenge his team for the UEFA Champions League  (UCL) trophy this season.

According to him, Spanish giants, Real Madrid and Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich are capable of stopping his team’s ambition to lift the UCL trophy for the second consecutive time.

Guardiola made this known this while talking to TNT Sports after his side’s 3-1 win over FC Copenhagen in their Round of 16 second leg of the European elite competition.

Speaking after the game at the Etihad, the Spanish tactician reflected on the result and their possible opponents in the quarter-finals.

Guardiola said: “We are well respected for our openness. Before I arrived we didn’t believe we could do it. It’s a question of time, a process. They (hierarchy) gave me time, gave us time.

“We are a team that believes we can do it. Listen, we’re competing with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. We don’t know who we are going to face. It’s a question of wait and see. The important thing is that seven years in a row we are here.”

Meanwhile, the first four quarter-finalists for this year’s Champions League have emerged following the completion of Wednesday’s Round of 16 fixtures.

At the Etihad, Manchester City progressed with a 6-2 aggregate score line after seeing off FC Copenhagen 3-1 in a game Manuel Akanji, Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland all found the back of the net.

Although Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw by RB Leipzig at the Bernabeu, the LaLiga team qualified with a 2-1 aggregate.

Prior to this, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich had booked their spots in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
