The German goalkeeper made some decisive saves before two goals from Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez ensured Man City progressed into the next round of the competition.

“It is not the first game [that Moreno has impressed],” Guardiola said at his post-match press conference after the match.

“The game in Dortmund and against Sevilla, he was exceptional. Today as well.

“The club made an incredible signing. He is an exceptional goalkeeper in all departments with the ball and with his feet.

Chelsea didn’t score because he saved it. It is good for Ederson as well. To have competition is so important to maintain your level,” he added.
