Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has reminded Bundesliga club, RB Leipzig that his team beat Premier league leaders, Arsenal, despite not being at their best.

The Citizens defeated the Gunners 3-1 at the Emirates last week and as a result, temporarily leapfrog them at the top of the league table.

However, the title race took a fresh twist on Saturday when the Gunners won 4-2 at Aston Villa, while City drew 1-1 away at Nottingham Forest.

City are away to RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday. But during his pre-match press conference, Guardiola reminded his German opponent about what they did to league leaders, Arsenal.

He said: “The team is there, I have the feeling. We won in London against Arsenal.

“Maybe we weren’t who we are but we competed really, really well. Without that, it’s impossible to achieve that result.

“The way we played that game we had something we normally had in the past like resilience,”

Meanwhile, Guardiola has said Kevin de Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte will miss Manchester City’s Champions League last-16 first-leg tie with RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

The pair did not train on Tuesday due to illness and have not been included in the squad travelling to Germany for the encounter.

Defender John Stones also misses the game as he continues to recover from a thigh injury, but January signing Maximo Perrone made the trip.
