Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has taken a subtle jibe at Premier League (PL) rivals, Chelsea, claiming he would have been “killed” if he spent the money the West London outfit splurged on new players in one year.
The Blues, after making several signings during January and summer windows, capped it up by securing the services of Romeo Lavia from Southampton for a fee worth £58million, taking their spending to almost £1billion under Todd Boehly.
Reacting to the development recently, Guardiola claimed their Premier League rivals were lucky because they don’t get enough media attention like his team.

The Spanish tactician also added that his critics would have slammed him, if he were the one who spent such a huge amount.
“I couldn’t sit here if we spent what Chelsea spent in the last two transfer windows – you would kill me,” Guardiola said.
Manchester City matched the 1999 treble winning feat of their city-rivals, Manchester United last season after winning the Premier League, FA Cup and the elusive Champions League trophy.
They began the new campaign with an emphatic 3-0 win against newly promoted Burnley and will be taking on Newcastle United on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium in their second match.
