Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola had admitted that one of the top English Premier League (EPL) clubs could lose out of the Champions League position because of the resurgence of Newcastle United.
The Magpies are enjoying a flying start to the 2022/2023 season and they currently sit in third place after losing only one game so far this season.
Eddie Howe’s men also have 32 points from their first 16 PL league fixtures and are only three points behind the champions, Man City.

Guardiola while urging his players not to be complacent as they chase the league leaders, Arsenal, also added that Newcastle remains a danger to his side and that they could upset one of the traditional top 4 PL clubs to claim one UCL spot this season.
“The moment we believe, ‘OK, four titles in five years, we don’t need to do it’, then we have no chance. No chance even for the top four.
“Newcastle are there and nobody expected it, so it’s one team less for the Champions League and that can be us,” Guardiola said.
