Group condemns pressure on Joshua to appear at inquest

The Yoruba Youth Liberation Movement has expressed its disapproval at the demand for the presence of founder of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet T. B. Joshua, before the coroner probing the cause of death of the 116 persons, who died in the church’s collapsed building on September 12, 2014.

The summons issued on Prophet Joshua by the coroner, Magistrate O.A. Komolafe, was affirmed by the presiding judge of a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, Justice Lateefa Okunnu on Friday, March 6.

The group said in a statement signed by its President, Michael Oluwafisayo, that there are secret plans to portray the church in bad light. “After our series of independent attendant at the coroner investigations and public opinion on the subject matter, we have been able to conclude that the inquest is targeted at the personality of the man of God and the SCOAN.

“It is rather sad at the moment when all hands should be on deck to properly investigate the immediate and remote cause of the sad incident of the collapse of the six story building; some persons have decided to resort to the barbaric act of witch-hunting to give the SCOAN family a bad name.”
