Governor Orji pledges more support for Abia teams

Abia State Governor, Theodore Ahamefule Orji has pledged improved support and motivation to all the state-owned teams especially Enyimba Int’l and Abia Warriors FC in the remaining part of his administration.

The Governor made this pledge while receiving an award as the Best South East Sports Governor of the Year by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), South East at the Government House in Umuahia last Thursday.

 

Orji who was flanked by his Deputy, Col. Emeka Ananaba (rtd), the secretary to the state government, members of the Abia State Exco and other members of the public, expressed appreciation on the ability of SWAN to monitor and recognize his effort in human development through the instrument of sports.

 

He said the state-owned teams, Enyimba Int’l of Aba, Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia, Abia Comets and Abia Valliants among others have been projecting the state in positive light.

 

Orji said he would do more to encourage sports not just in Abia State but in the entire South East as well as in Nigeria as a whole.

 

Earlier, leader of delegation and National Vice President of SWAN, South East, Comrade Cajetan Nkwopara said the association after a painstaking assessment of all the five states in the zone, came into conclusion that the government of Abia State Governor, Theodore Ahamefule Orji, did more than others to support sports in the year 2014.
