Government laziness, people’s lifestyle, bane of clean environment, Says Obuesi.

Two factors militating against clean environment in Lagos State include people’s lifestyle and laziness on the part of government in regulating and enforcement of laws on environment.

This statement was made by Chairman Chief Executive of SWEEP foundation Ambassador Philip Obuesi who insisted that Clean environment should be properly regulated and enforced in our cities and towns.

While speaking in Naija Info Fm station programme ‘Clean environment’ anchored by environmentalist Desmond Majekudunmi, Barr. Obuesi insisted thàt if well coordinated, people could make a living from sorting waste plastic bottles and other waste materials.

According to him, waste evacuation in Surulere and environs where his company is cited has been good and wastes are reduced to the barest minimum which led to Surulere Local government and his firm SWEEP winning awards for the cleanest LGA for two years.

He noted that all it takes to maintain a good and clean environment is a sustainable interest from the populace, adding that much waste is being generated through carelessness and non-challant attitude by Nigerians who throw their wastes materials into the drains.

Obuesi also pointed out that with the corporation of government waste regulators and proper awareness, the public will comply and the environment will be cleaner. Obuesi is optimistic that with all hands on deck, a cleaner environment will be achieved
