Gov. Udom task youth on job creation, human capital development programmes

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has tasked youths of the state to take advantage of the laudable programmes of his administration that are geared towards job creation and human capital development.

Governor Emmanuel, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Youth Matters, Mr. Aniefiok Iwaudofia, made this known in Uyo on Monday when 31 Chapter Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) called on him.

 

While emphasizing on the need for a peaceful Akwa Ibom State, the Governor who also said his government will be that of partnership with the youths for peace in the state, maintained that the “National Youth Council of Nigeria is a veritable tool for peace management.”

 

Governor Emmanuel urged all youth groups in the state to be integrated into the National Youth Council of Nigeria in line with constitutional provision of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

 

He assured them of his administration’s commitment to develop and empower the youths to be self-sufficient and self-reliance.

 

Speaking earlier, the leader of the group, Comrade Favour Otong, thanked the State Governor for Iwaudofia’s appointment as he is one of their own and assured him of their total support, come rain and shine.

 

Comrade Otong appealed for government’s continued consideration of the youths in its programmes and policies, adding that a proper database of all youths in the state be put up for easy access and for the purpose of planning..

 

In a vote of thanks, Comrade Ifiok George described Governor Emmanuel as the will of God for the state and a good man whom the youths of the state will always go all the way to support.
