Ghanaian singer, Shatta Wale, in intensive care after being shot

Shatta Wale’s Manager, Dope has confirmed that the Ghananian music sensation was shot by unknown assailants.

Wale, who’s real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr, was reported to have been shot in the East Legon region of Ghana and has been moved into the emergency ward of the  hospital. 

His manager who made this known via his social media account wrote: “Thanks to all those calling to check up. The king is still at the emergency ward receiving treatment. The gunmen are still on the run. Thanks to Ghana police”

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian Police Service put up a statement on Facebook, confirming they have heard about the incident and said they have opened an investigation. 

The service also said since the news broke out, it’s men and women have tried to contact the musician and family all to no avail, they have also visited hospitals but have not been unable to locate the reggae musician.

They therefore appealed to members of the public, who have useful information about Shatta Wale’s whereabouts to please contact them

“The attention of the Police has been drawn to the widely circulated news on the alleged gunshot-attack on one Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale.

“On hearing the news, the police have launched an investigation into the matter including making contacts with some of his close friends and family members and all of them claim not to have knowledge of his whereabouts or the alleged incident.

“A team has visited the house of Shatta Wale and he cannot be found there. Over the last few hours, the Police have searched and continue to look for Shatta Wale at hospitals in Accra.

 “Whilst we continue our investigations, the Police is appealing to the public to provide any information concerning the whereabouts of Shatta Wale to the numbers 18555, 191, and 0302773906.” the statement read. 

The first 

Shatta Wale was formerly known by the stage name Bandana”. His best-known singles are Dancehall King, My level, and We taking over, songs which earned him the Artiste of the Year at the 2014 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
