Nigeria’s government has asked schools across the country to be prepared for full reopening following a decline in COVID-19 cases.
At a press briefing on Thursday, September 3, the national coordinator, Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu, said the reopening of schools would be done in phases.
Aliyu said daycare, primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions should begin the process of working towards potentially reopening after conducting a monitoring mechanism to assess, create, and monitor the level of preparedness.
The coordinator said schools should re-open in phases to ensure that there is no risk to the general public and in particular to vulnerable groups.
