Four teams have now progressed to the Round of 16 at Euro 2024 after Switzerland became the latest nation to book their place in the knockout round.

The Swizz team confirmed their last 16 position after they drew 1-1 with Germany at the Deutsche Bank Park Arena in Frankfurt on Sunday

Substitute Niclas Fullkrug scored a late equaliser for Germany as they rescued a draw with Switzerland to top Group A.

The Swiss thought they were going through to the last 16 as group winners after an early goal from Dan Ndoye until Fullkrug headed in the equaliser.

Speaking after the game, Germany boss, Julian Nagelsmann said, “At the end I think this point is well deserved. We risked a lot, as we could have conceded a second goal.

“It was a very strong group and a very good match. I think if we had scored that first goal, it would have been very difficult for Switzerland.”

With the draw, Germany finished top of Group A with seven points, while Switzerland progressed as runners-up with five points.

Portugal and Spain have also qualified for the next round after garnering 6 points each from two games.

Switzerland will take on the runner-up in Group B, while Germany will face the runner-up in Group C on Saturday.

Portugal are waiting for the best third-placed team from Group A, B or C and Spain take on the best third-placed team from Group A, D, E or F.
