Germany became the first team after the host, Qatar to book a place in the 2022 World Cup taking place in the Asian country after clinching first place in its qualifying group on Monday.
Qatar qualifies as the host and therefore the first nation to book its ticket for the soccer fiesta, but Germany becomes the first team to book its place through qualifying rounds, even with two games to go.
Germany defeated North Macedonia 4-0 and needed Romania to beat or draw with Armenia to be the first country to qualify, and Romania obliquely beat Armenia 1-0 at home.
This means the German who are on 21 points can no longer be caught by Romania who is 2nd and on13 points or North Macedonia who has 12points and is in the 3rd position with just 6 points to earn.
Goals from Kai Havertz, his Chelsea teammate, Timo Werner (2), and Jamal Musiala gave the Germans a comprehensive 4-0 win away to North Macedonia after a shocking loss to them in the reverse fixture.
Germany hired Hansi Flick, former Bayern Munich Manager after a humiliating 6-0 loss to Spain in the Nations League in November, and the new coach, former has steadied the ship by qualifying Germany with two games to spare.
This makes the “Die Mannschaft ” of Germany, the only team that is sure of participation in Qatar for now, outside the host who gets an automatic place. They are expected to be joined by Denmark who has dominated their group with 21 points and a +26 goal difference when they play Austria tomorrow.
