There have been speculations that each of the two leading candidates disbursed at least $30,000 (N15m) each to the more than 700 delegates that were accredited to vote at the convention.

On the Facebook wall of a journalist and former Special Assistant Media to late Governor of Kaduna State, Patrick Yakowa, Reuben Buhari, Tanko Rossi Sabo spent N7million alone on the less privileged in his community from the money delegates gave him to secure his vote.

The post reads: “This is Tanko Rossi Sabo. He was a national delegate who came back with the money he got and shared it all with his community in Sanga LGA. N7million alone went to the less privileged. He bought jerseys, paid school fees and hospital fees. He distributed the rest to other support groups.

“Whatever is the argument on whether he was right in collecting the money or not, my consolation is that hundreds of the less privileged in his community are smiling today.  For that, I say well done Tanko.”
