Two months after the invasion of Gbaramatu Kingdom by the Nigerian Military, one of the residents, Christian Ebiwe said he is yet to locate his family, just as he fears for his life.
Ebiwe, who said he worked and settled in the area, stated that his life has not been the same since the invasion, as his family is yet to be located, while he is no more working.
He said, “I worked and settled in a community called Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, where I lived with my family, that is my wife and four children. There are other communities around Gbaramatu, like Oporoza and Ogolagha.
“Two months ago, Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, started bombing oil wells and pipelines around the areas. Few days after, Nigeria army came to the community, invaded the area killing and arresting innocent people. It was alleged that some of the Avenger boys were living in the same compound with me. One night, the Nigeria army invaded the compound, shooting and killing people around.
“Since then, my family is nowhere to be found, even my aged mother, who came to take care of my sick wife is missing as well. I managed to escape out of the community. As I am talking to you now, I fear for my life as many able bodied men who could not escape were arrested and up till now, nobody knows there where about. There is fear that they may have been killed, as the military continues to deny arresting anybody.”
It will be recalled that the Nigeria Military invaded Gbaramatu Kingdom on May 28, in their quest to arrest Government Ekpemopolo, also known as Tompolo, believed to be the brain behind the Niger Delta Avengers, a new militant group that has been bombing oil installations in the last five months.
