Ganduje’s seat not vacant, APC tells Yahaya Bello’s supporters

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the national chairmanship position of the party is not vacant in response to moves by supporters of the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
Online platforms and social media portals have been awash with rumours of Bello’s interest in the leadership position of the party, barely 48 hours after handing over to Governor Usman Ododo.
Posters of the former governor flooded the streets of Abuja, including the national secretariat of the ruling party on Monday.

But rising from the meeting of the APC National Working Committee, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, warned at a press conference on Tuesday at the party’s national secretariat that the position of the APC national chairman being peddled around by Bello’s supporters is currently held by a former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje.
He said, “There is no vacancy in the office of the APC National Chairman. Dr Abdullahi Ganduje remains our chairman. This is a democracy where people do what they want.
“We have total confidence in the leadership of the party. But, make no mistake because the office of the national chairman is properly and fully occupied. Nobody is asking for that office to be declared vacant and it is not vacant. I will want to warn those who are throwing these papers around to desist from doing that.
“That is not our priority right now. We need to concentrate on the job that needs to be done to solve some of the problems that will make our country a better place for all of us.”
