Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has threatened to sue online news platform Sahara Reporters for naming him among three governors accused of stashing public funds.
Kano State Commissioner for Information, Youths and Sports, Muhammed Garba, in a statement on Sunday said that the news outfit reported that Ganduje was among three governors accused of financial crime by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The anti-graft agency recently said three serving state governors are under monitoring over moves to launder cash through table payment of salaries to workers.
EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, who did not give the identities of these governors, said two of them were from the north, while the third one was from the southern part of the country.

In the statement by Garba, however, Kano State Government threatened to take legal action against Sahara Reporters if they failed to retract the story and apologise.

Kano State, it said, was among the few states of the Federation that consistently paid its workers’ salary as and when due.
“Gov. Ganduje has not acquired any billions of naira, stashed away any fund that could be used for workers’ salary in an era of e-banking services,” the statement said.
