Ganduje held sway as Kano State Governor before his Deputy, Ganuwa was defeated by NNPP’s Yusuf in March

A delegation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kano State led by its national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The delegation which met the president at the Presidential Villa, also had in attendance, the March 18, 2023 governorship candidate of the party in Kano State, Nasiru Gawuna.
Other notable APC leaders from the state that attended the meeting are: Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; Minister of State Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo; the Minister of State for FCT, Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure; the Chairman of Northern Lawmakers Caucus of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the Chairman of House Committee on Appropriations, Abubakar Bichi, the APC chairman from Kano, Abdullahi Abbas, the deputy governorship candidate of the APC, Murtala Sule Garo, and a former House of Representatives members from the state, Hafiz Kawu.
This visit comes barely a week after the Supreme Court affirmed Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) as the governor of Kano State.
In March last year, power shifted from the APC to NNPP, when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Yusuf, who scored 1,019,602 votes ahead of Gawuna who polled 890,705 votes in the gubernatorial election as the winner.
But, Gawuna contested the results in court which led to the Appeal Court declaring him governor.
However, on January 12, the Supreme Court restored Yusuf as the governor, after he contested the verdict of the appellate court.

As at the time of this report, the details of the meeting between the APC national chairman, Gawuna and the President has not been disclosed.
