Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has put Atiku Abubakar on notice the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) G5 Governors will return fire for fire if the presidential candidate does not stop his proxy volleys at the group through attack dogs.

The G5, also known as the Integrity Group, is a faction of the PDP which does not support Atiku’s ticket because he backs Iyorchia Ayu to remain as National Chairman against the party’s constitution.

The G5 Governors comprise Wike (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

Wike urged Atiku to stop members of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) from attacking the Integrity Group.

He handed down the warning at the inauguration of the Indorama-Agbonchia-Ogale-Ebubu-East/West Link Road in Eleme Council in Rivers, performed by former Ondo Governor Olusegun Mimiko.

G5 lovers of peace

Wike stressed G5 are lovers of peace who believe all PDP members should embrace peace and work together to ensure victory for the party in the 2023 election.

“Now, what I want to tell the presidential candidate of PDP [Atiku] is we need peace. We want all of us to be together for the party to win election,” he said, per The Guardian.

“But let me say clearly, if your boys continue to attack the G5 [Governors], continue to attack the leaders of our party, we will strike back.

“If anybody again dares, in the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, to insult the PDP Governors G5, insult our leaders of Integrity Group, we’ll fight back. Enough is enough.”

Wike said it is ludicrous for those who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and abandoned the PDP at its trying moment to dictate to him and his associates on what to do in the party.

“We want peace. All we want is equity, fairness and justice. Nobody should take us for granted.

“I cannot understand, people, who just left APC two weeks ago, are talking about PDP that we stayed and suffered to build. Even if anybody will talk about us not these miscreants.”
