Akindele who contested under PDP, also thanked the people of Lagos for believing in her and supporting her decision to run for office

Popular Nollywood actress and movie producer, Funke Akindele, who contested the gubernatorial election as the running mate of the Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adediran Abdul-Azeez a.k.a Jandor, has said she doesn’t regret running for political office.
Akindele expressed satisfaction with her decision via a series of tweets on her Twitter handle on Monday, as she thanked her supporters and fans for their support.
Incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated Jandor, who came third in the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election.

According to INEC, Sanwo Olu won with 762, 134 votes, defeating the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who scored 312, 329, and Jandor who secured 62, 449 votes.
Speaking after her loss, Akindele took to her Twitter handle to let her fans know she has no regret joining politics while also appreciating them.
She tweeted: “It has been an amazing and insightful experience on my journey to the ballot.
“I sincerely don’t regret taking this huge step of running for office.
“I, therefore, want to thank the people of Lagos State for believing in me and supporting my decision to run for office.
“The elections might not have panned out in the way we hoped, but it was an honourable run for us. We fought a good fight indeed, as a matter of fact.”
