The fugitive former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina, has been extradited to Nigeria from Niger Republic where he was arrested.
Maina, who is standing trial for a 12 counts of money laundering chief among which was that he embezzled N2 billion in Pension funds, jumped bail and fled to Niger Republic.
Following an alert from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to the INTERPOL on his escape from the law, he was arrested on December 1.
The disappearance of Maina after he was granted bail by the trial judge, Justice Abang Okon, led to his surety, Senator Ali Ndume, spending five days in prison. He only came out on November 27.
Maina was brought into Nigeria through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. He was in the company of two security operatives and was escorted without handcuffs or leg chains.
