Fubara versus Wike: PDP governors hold emergency meeting in Abuja
By Emma Ogbuehi
Governors elected on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are right now meeting in Abuja over the crisis in Rivers State following the Rivers State House of Assembly’s attempt on Monday to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The meeting is holding at the Oyo State Governors Lodge in Abuja.
The governors who had earlier attended the Nigeria Police Council where Kayode Egbetokun was confirmed as the substantive Inspector-General of Police went straight to the Oyo Governor’s lodge from there.
The party had called on all members and actors involved in the ongoing political crisis rocking Rivers State to allow peace to reign.

Governors who are at the meeting include the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed; Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal and Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri.
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, PDP National Working Committee led by acting Chairman, Iliya Damagum, Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori are also in attendance.
The PDP Governors Forum, under the leadership of Bala Mohammed, is also expected to discuss the off-season elections in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo States, the Rivers state political crisis and other party-related issues.
The relationship between Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and his predecessor in office and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, soured over the weekend following attempts by a section of the state House of Assembly to impeach the governor.
Blame for the attempted impeachment of Governor Fubara is being placed squarely on the shoulders of Wike.
He has been openly accused of being the puppeteer pulling the impeachment strings from behind and orchestrating the actions of the House of Assembly faction behind the impeachment efforts.
Both Fubara and Wike are members of the PDP.
