Tim Vickery, a Brazilian football expert, has disclosed that Arsenal bound Gabriel Jesus is yet to get over his failure to score a goal at the 2018 World Cup.
Describing the experience as a traumatic one for the player, Vickery also told talkSPORT, that it remained the lowest point of the striker’s career to date.
He said, “The low point of his career was the last World Cup.
“In the World Cup, he had a mare.
“He didn’t score a goal. Many maligned centre-forwards have scored for Brazil at the World Cup, but he didn’t manage one. It’s been a trauma for him ever since.”

Gabriel Jesus said in 2018 that his failure to score a single goal at the Russia World Cup will continue to haunt him for a long time.
The Manchester City forward, who is currently Emirate Stadium bound, had after the World Cup lamented that “I went to the World Cup as a key player and I ended up not scoring. It affects you.
“I was scared by that. People will always remember Gabriel who did not score in the World Cup,” he told Globo TV.
The 25-year-old forward failed to shine at the 2018 World Cup despite being compared to Ronaldo Nazario, who ranks second behind Miroslav Klose with the most goals at the World Cup before the tournament.
Jesus played Brazils’ five games at the showpiece but failed to score a goal for the Selecao, as the South American giant crashed out after losing to Belgium in the round of 16.
Pundits later argued that the incident weighed heavily on the striker and contributed to his poor showing that lasted for months into the 2018/19 season with City.
Gabriel Jesus’ decision to join Arsenal has also been linked with his desire to get enough game time so that he can right the wrongs of 2018 at the 2022 Qatar World Cup later in the year.
