Flying Eagles captain, Daniel Bameyi has promised the team will return to winning ways in the Rounds of 16 following a disappointing defeat to the Young Selecao of Brazil on Saturday night.

Ladan Bosso’s boys fell to a 2-0 defeat against their South African opponent in their last group game of the ongoing 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in La Plata.

The Nigerian side gave away two late first-half goals to lose their first game in the competition.

The Flying Eagles after the defeat dropped from first position to third in Group D but still qualified for the knock-out stage of the age-grade competition.

“We’re sorry we lost, while we appreciate the support of Nigerians. We will bounce back.”
