Five men who robbed Lagos warehouse after smoking Indian hemp, arraigned in court

Justice M A Dada, sitting at the Lagos High Court, Special Offences Court, Ikeja, was told how a man who was released from prison in 2017, assembled a gang that robbed the Egbe road, Ikotun Ejibo warehouse also known as Ofuru oil warehouse, in Lagos.

The robbery took place at number 168 Egbe Road, Ikotun Ejibo, Ofuru oil warehouse, in Lagos, on September, 19, 2017.

Police investigator, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Adengu Abolarin, told the court that the names of the accused persons are: Yahaya Hammed, Femi Taiwo, and Martins Muroon.

He said that the gang robbed the market women of one million, three hundred and forty five thousand Naira and phones.

The police witness said that the gang pretended to want to buy mamador oil to pull off the robbery.

He said that the case was reported to the Ikotun police station on 21st, September, 2017 and because the police could not handle the matter, it was referred to the Special Anto Robbery Squad (SARS).

Abolarin disclosed that they got the 1st defendant, Yahaya, who confessed that they were five that went for the robbery.

The 1st defendant said that Martins AKA Muroon, was their gang leader, and that they went with a gun and two motorcycles the day of the robbery.

The witness, also told the court that Martins, the 2nd defendant, confessed to participating in the robbery, while the Femi Taiwo, th 3rd defendant confessed that he was the gang armour bearer.

The investigator said that Martins Muroon, the gang leader, was just released from prison in the same year, 2017. He had assembled the gang at a spot and after smoking Indian Hemp together, they went out to execute their plans.

The 1st, and 3rd defendants were present in the court, while the 2nd defendant, Martins, AKA Muroon, was absent. 

The investigator tendered as exhibit the the gun that was recovered from Femi.  

The judge adjourned the case to April, 2, 2020 for further hearing.
