Fish oil helps unborn children develop immunity —Research

An Australian study has found evidence that women taking fish oil capsules during pregnancy will have their babies develop strong immunity when they are born.

The University of Western Australia research has established that supplementing polyunsaturated fatty acids in fish oil during pregnancy was health for the unborn baby.

The research showed that early development could be potentially beneficial in preventing allergic, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders in children.

The study involved 36 mother and infant pairs.

Lead researcher, Prof. Susan Prescott, told newsmen that the study proved fish oil could enhance a new born baby’s immune system.

However, they could not exactly isolate the molecular mechanism that explains fish oil’s health power.

Report says previous research by the university found that fish oil enhances fetal growth and reduces the risk of miscarriage.
