Her name may not appear on the list of the most fashionable first ladies, but wife of Nigeria’s president, Patience Jonathan, has proven that she’s not just the First Lady but that she’s also a unique, fashionable woman.
No doubt, Mrs. Jonathan loves fashion and she does not try to hide it. At every occasion, official and non-official, she has shown off her sense of style in rich colourful outfits with matching accessories.
Although she has been criticised for her fashion choices, this does not seem to have deterred her in any way. While many may not exactly love her fashion style, they don’t exactly hate her choices either.
At 57, Mrs. Jonathan may not have the charismatic carriage and signature style like that of the late Maryam Babangida, who popularised the First Lady position, or like late Stella Obasanjo, who was known for her off-shoulder blouse on long skirts, Nigerians will remember her for her unique sense of style.
