Popular Afrobeats singer and songwriter, Adedamola Oyinlola Adefolahan better known as Fireboy DML, has expressed his admiration for his colleague, Ahmed Ololade, aka Asake.
The ‘What If I Say’ crooner who shares
the same record label with Asake, made this known during a recent interview with Ebro.
During the chat, he eulogized Asake’s talent and energy, saying the singer recorded his verse on their 2022 collaborative hit song ‘Bandana’ in a tour bus.
He went on to say their synergy on the song was due to their long-standing working relationship dating back to their undergraduate days at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife.

Speaking on Asake’s talent, Fireboy said,
“Our record label [YBNL] boss, Olamide, advised me to feature Asake on ‘Bandana.’ We sent it to him. He recorded that song on his tour bus. It was quick. The energy was insane”
“Asake is someone I’ve known since way back. We went to the same university. He has a very crazy personality.
“He’s a born star. We had that synergy from way back in school. We had similar struggles. We went through almost the same journey,” he added.
