Finidi hails Super Eagles’ video analyst, claims he knows South Africa’s strengths, weaknesses

Finidi plays his first game as the substantive coach of the Super Eagles against South Africa on Friday, June 7, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja

Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George  has commended his team’s video analyst, Mehmet Ozturk for a job well done after revealing the strengths and weaknesses of the South African team to him.

Nigeria will entertain Bafana Bafana in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying tie at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Friday, June 7.

Speaking at a media parley in Lagos ahead of the encounter, Finidi disclosed that his video analyst has provided detailed information on the South African team.

While praising him, the 53-year-old tactician said: “It’s a well calculated pick; we also have the fitness coach which is needed in modern day football and a match analyst. What that guy has done so far is amazing.”

He added: “What he has sent to me, analyzing player by player, not the Super Eagles players but the opponents.

“We play South Africa first. What I have on my phone is amazing. It is not that I’m not watching but when someone will break it down, the strengths and weaknesses, it’s a fantastic job.”

Nigeria after their match against South Africa will face the Squirrels of Benin Republic at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny, Abidjan three days later. 

The Super Eagles are currently third with two points on the log table in a group which also comprises South Africa, Benin Republic, Rwanda, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Rwanda lead the group with 4 points, South Africa followed closely in second with 3 points, while Benin are bottom with only just one point.
